John Schicht

At the early age of 13, John’s talent had already started to shine. He was drawing Disney Characters, Super Hero Characters, and so many different types of sceneries.

In his late teens, John enrolled in Art Classes and completed the course by correspondence.

In his early 20’s, John was offered a position by a Sign Shop Owner who took him on as an apprentice Sign Writer. It wasn’t long before he became one of their best Sign Writers and worked on numerous jobs for the Movie Theatre Clients. Throughout his career working with different Sign Shops, he had the privilege of working on location for some of their contracts with Ontario Place which involved lettering and graphics on several of their booths.

During his spare time, John’s creative mind was always working. He started creating short comic strips for fun. The former “Telegram” newspaper had advertisement asking for individuals to submit comics to them so John got busy creating and sent in a number of his creations and The Telegram selected and published some of John’s comics. If John wasn’t working on comics he was painting beautiful scenery pictures that would be hung up wherever there was room in his home.

During his retirement years John continues to be creative which is what brings him to the Niagara Comic Con event from June 2nd to June 4th 2017. He will be showcasing his latest “one- of- a-kind” creations of Handmade Dioramas. He will be set up in the Artist Alley with many types of Movie, TV, & Super Hero themed dioramas some of which are motorized, clocks, and his interesting creations of his “Dioramas In The Box”. He has even created some board games. John has donated several of his dioramas to different charity organizations for raffle prizes to help raise funds during their events.

Be sure to drop by the Artist Alley to meet John and see his unique dioramas available to purchase for an incredible & unique gift idea!
